Grant Eligibility
An organization applying for a Portiuncula Foundation grant will:
- Be aligned with the ethical and social teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

- Meet at least one of the following criteria:
- A 501(c)(3) corporation in western Pennsylvania
- A 501(c)(3) corporation in which one or more Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities serve in active ministry
- An unincorporated ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities

A qualifying project or program is consistent with the Portiuncula Foundation’s Guiding Principles:
- Advances health, wellness, and education
- Promotes a broad vision of health that includes spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and economic well-being
- Addresses root causes of poverty or has a focus on systemic change
- Empowers the marginalized, especially women and children
- Serves the vulnerable and/or underserved
- Conforms to the ethical and social teachings of the Catholic Church
- Demonstrates collaboration with other organizations
